The Reception year is part of the Early Years Foundation Stage.  This curriculum has a distinct identity for young children from birth to the end of the Reception year and is about developing key learning skills such as listening, speaking, concentration, persistence and co-operation.  It is also about developing communication, literacy and numeracy skills that will prepare children for Key Stage 1 of the National Curriculum.  Further information about the Year R curriculum can be found in our Year R Information Booklet 2016-17 (PDF, 253.21 kB)
